What is a Production Concept?
E-Learning Module
A self-paced lesson - with branching scenarios - created in Articulate Storyline 360 for an undergraduate theatre appreciation class
-
Undergraduate learners enrolled in Intro to Theatre
-
Learners in an online asynchronous setting struggled to understand exactly what a director’s concept is and how it manifests itself in a fully staged theatrical production.
-
I created a self-paced lesson that introduces the relevant concepts and terminology, assesses learners’ understanding of these concepts, and presents them with a branching scenario that asks them to make the same decisions directors would make.
-
I served as the instructor for the course, designed and developed the SCORM-compliant RLO (in accordance with Section 508 standards), and recorded and edited the audio narration.

Articulate Storyline 360, Vyond, Audacity, Snagit, Microsoft PowerPoint, Lucidchart
History of Theater Spaces
Interactive Video Lecture
A video lecture with a short assessment - created in Camtasia - for an asynchronous online theatre appreciation class
-
Online undergraduate learners enrolled in the summer term of Intro to Theatre
-
I needed to introduce online learners to the same material I would present on the history of theater spaces in the face-to-face version of the course.
-
I created an interactive video lecture - with a brief knowledge check - to show them visual examples of historical theater spaces, using Camtasia’s zoom and annotation functions to draw the learners’ attention to specific elements.
-
I served as the online instructor for the Intro to Theatre course, and I designed, developed, filmed, and edited the SCORM-compliant interactive video.

Intro to Theatre Course Orientation

A welcome video / “course tour” for students enrolled in an asynchronous online class that uses the Canvas LMS
-
Online undergraduate learners enrolled in the summer term of Intro to Theatre
-
I needed a way to present online learners with the important information I would normally give them on the first day of class in a face-to-face environment.
-
I created a short welcome video to introduce learners to the course objectives, describe the types of assessments they will encounter, and show them how to access specific things within the Canvas LMS.
-
I served as the online instructor for the Intro to Theatre course, and I designed, developed, filmed, and edited the SCORM-compliant video.

Reducing Performance Anxiety
Online Reference Guide
A guide for Public Speaking students at St. Lawrence University - created in Adobe Captivate - containing video tutorials and other information
-
Undergraduate learners enrolled in Public Speaking
-
Public Speaking instructors consistently encountered learners who struggled with performance anxiety and wanted to provide these learners with resources to help them overcome it.
-
I created an online reference guide that provides learners with tips and breathing exercises to help them overcome their anxiety before, during, and after their performances.
-
I designed and developed the SCORM-compliant RLO, in collaboration with the Public Speaking instructors at St. Lawrence University, and I filmed and edited the video tutorials included within it.

The Verb Gauntlet
Tutorial Website
A Google Site for acting teachers and theatre educators to learn how to incorporate a methodology I developed into their classes
-
Acting teachers and theatre educators
-
I had developed a technique for introducing the concepts of action and tactic to acting students - The Verb Gauntlet - but I didn’t have an effective way of sharing this technique with others.
-
I created a site for theatre educators to access to learn how they can incorporate the Verb Gauntlet into their classes or rehearsals.
-
I designed and developed the Google Site, photographed and filmed the working session with students, and edited the videos to include on the site.
